Welcome to The Mobile AI Angle
I started The Mobile AI Angle because most conversations about artificial intelligence are still missing the most important context: mobile.
AI is no longer something we interact with occasionally through a browser or a workstation. It’s increasingly embedded in the devices we carry all day, every day. When AI moves to mobile, the rules change. Battery life matters. Latency matters. Privacy matters. Offline usage matters. Hardware constraints matter. And yet, much of today’s AI discourse still overlooks these realities.
This newsletter exists to focus on what actually happens when AI lives on a phone.
Mobile isn’t just another deployment surface it’s the most personal and constrained computing environment we have. Features that look impressive in demos or cloud-based setups often behave very differently once they reach a mobile device. Decisions around on-device versus cloud execution, data handling, performance tradeoffs, and user experience become unavoidable. These are the details that determine whether an AI feature quietly succeeds or fails in the real world.
My perspective comes from more than a decade building and leading mobile products at scale. I’m a Google Developer Expert in Android, and the Author of Modern Android 13 Development Cookbook. I’ve led mobile teams, shipped production apps used by millions, mentored engineers globally, and spoken at over 30 conferences helping women break into tech. I’m also pursuing an MBA at Cornell University, which shapes how I think about technology not just as code, but as a business and product lever.
I sit at the intersection of mobile engineering, product strategy, and emerging AI capabilities. I spend less time on what’s theoretically possible and more on what can realistically be shipped, adopted, and trusted by users. That lens guides how I evaluate new tools, platform changes, and model releases. I care about practical implications, not hype cycles.
In The Mobile AI Angle, I’ll share mobile-focused AI news, break down major launches through a mobile lens, and offer clear perspectives on where things are heading. I’ll cover what’s working today, what’s being overstated, and which signals point to meaningful change. When possible, I’ll translate technical tradeoffs into plain language so they’re useful for real-world decision-making whether you’re building, leading, or investing.
This is also where I’ll explore what’s next for AI on mobile not as distant speculation, but as developments becoming feasible because of advances in hardware, operating systems, and model design. Some shifts will be obvious. Others will be subtle, but far more important over time.
I’m writing this for builders, product leaders, designers, developers, and anyone who cares about how AI actually shows up in people’s hands. If you want to understand AI beyond announcements especially how it behaves under mobile constraints you’re in the right place.
AI on mobile is still early, but its direction is already being shaped. This newsletter is where I’ll document that evolution, share insights along the way, and look ahead at what’s coming.
Thanks for reading and welcome to The Mobile AI Angle.
